Scholarships for Certificate Programs: Certificate programs are programs that are designed to give students mastery over a narrow subject area or topic.

These certificate programs are offered in many trades, professional fields, and academic areas and are also available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Details below;

Certificate programs are usually geared towards adult students and students looking for short-term training leading to instant employment.

These non-degree programs are frequently provided at two main levels: the undergraduate and the graduate.

They may be offered in an extensive variety of subjects, from trade occupations, like plumbing and air conditioning repair, to academic subjects, like accounting and communication.

List of Scholarships for Certificate Programs

1. Fully-Funded Rotary Peace Fellowships 2020-2021

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships to pursue a Professional Development Certificate Program or Master’s Degree Program related to peace and conflict resolution and prevention at one of the participating peace centers around the world (USA, Japan, UK, Australia, Sweden, and Thailand)

Eligibility:

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for professionals with work experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution. Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in English; proficiency in a second language is strongly recommended
  • Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Master’s degree applicants: minimum of three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
  • Certificate applicants: minimum of five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background

2. Orange Knowledge Program in the Netherlands

The Orange Knowledge Program aims to advance the development of the capacity, knowledge, and quality of both individuals as well as organizations both in the field of higher and vocational education and in other fields related to the priority themes in the program countries.

Eligibility:                                                                        

  • One must be a professional and a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the OKP Country list valid at the time of application;
  • One must have a current employer’s statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the formal must be endorsed in the statement;
  • One must not be employed by an organization which can be expected to have their own funds for staff development, e.g.: a multinational corporation a large national and a large commercial organization; a bilateral donor organization (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid); a multilateral donor organization (e.g. a UN organization, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB); an international NGO
  • One must have a current employer’s statement which complies with the Nuffic format. All information must be provided and all commitments, which are included in the Nuffic format, must be endorsed in the statement;
  • One must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established.
  • One must have an official passport valid at least three months after the submission date of the registration form by the candidate.

3. Maastricht University Holland High Potential Scholarships for International Students

The Maastricht University (UM) Holland-High Potential Scholarship program offers 24 full scholarships of €29.000 each academic year for highly talented students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been admitted to a Master’s program at UM.

The Holland High Potential Scholarship consists of a High Potential Scholarship combined with a Holland Scholarship.

Eligibility:

All candidates must meet the following requirements:

You hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA and meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.

You must have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2019-2020 academic years.

You meet the specific admission requirements of the UM Master’s program to which you have applied.

You have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education program, a primary education program, or a secondary education program in the Netherlands. Students who completed exchange programs in the Netherlands are welcome to apply.

You are not over 35 years of age.

You must have obtained excellent results during your prior education programs, as demonstrated by your latest grade transcript or certified by academic excellence.

If several applicants are equally qualified, we will give preference to applicants whose academic transcript or certified letter of academic excellence demonstrate that they are among the top 5% of the 2019/20 scholarship program applicants.

4. Hubert Humphrey Fellowships in the USA for International Students

The Humphrey Fellowship Program is for experienced professionals interested in strengthening their leadership skills through a mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding about issues of common concern in the U.S. and Fellows’ home countries.

Eligibility:

The applicant must have:

  • An undergraduate (first university) degree,
    •  A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience
    •  Limited or no prior experience in the United States,
    •  Demonstrated leadership qualities,
    •  A record of public service in the community, and
    •  English language ability

5. EdX Free Online Courses

edX is a learning platform that gives students from any country the opportunity to take free online courses offered by premier Universities around the world.  Online learners can earn a certificate of completion after completing the course.

Eligibility:

EdX courses are open to everyone. All you need is access to a computer with a current browser, an Internet connection, and, of course, a desire to learn.

Application instructions:

To sign up, create an edX account and then register for the course of your choice. Deadline varies per course.
