University of Bayreuth BIGSAS-Scholarships is now open for applications from suitably qualified students. It is a fully funded scholarship for all students sponsored by the University of Bayreuth.
About the Scholarship
In Bayreuth, Germany, there is a public research institution called the .
It was established in 1975 as a campus university with a focus on interdisciplinarity and global cooperation.
It is essentially divided into six undergraduate and graduate faculties, each of which establishes its own entrance requirements and academic programs with a high degree of autonomy.
Based on the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research environment of the Institute of African Studies (IAS) at the University of Bayreuth and the Cluster of Excellence “Africa Multiple: Reconfiguring African Studies,” BIGSAS offers a center for creative and innovative PhD training.
Benefits of University of Bayreuth BIGSAS-Scholarships
1. Monthly payments of 1,200 euros.
2. Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover.
3. Travel lump sum (depending on country of origin).
4. Annual research allowance of 460 euros.
Under certain circumstances, grant holders may receive the following additional benefits:
1. Monthly rent subsidy.
2. Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family (about 200 euros child allowance per child; about 275 euros marriage allowance).
3. The host graduate school can receive an annual material resource and supervision allowance (1000 euros).

Requirements for University of Bayreuth BIGSAS-Scholarships
1. Applicants must have a very good Master’s Degree in one of the disciplines represented at the graduate school. The Master’s Degree must have been obtained within the last six years.
2. Applicants should not have been in Germany for more than twelve months.
3. Applications may be submitted in German, English or French, the working language of BIGSAS is English.
